I used Sketch-up for the walkthrough animation to show the inside of the space and to also give a sense of how the space would be used unfortunately I wasn't able to show the model in context in the modelling space.
Graham Collins’ work is new to me. The work, is the line between ruin and stability, and expresses a has true presence. He Combines monochrome painting, scrims of glass and salvaged wood. Collins work at first view see something minimalist, then discover all kinds of nuance, through reflections.
The reason i picked Graham Collins as my client because i want to have a play on his work from within my gallery and exhibiting space though the reflections would be limited to dark tones the shadows within would create and interesting effect on the walls. Selecting the right type of timber is a integral part of my design for the exhibition space both aesthetically and structurally important. I am interested in several woods but i had to narrow it down to what kind of wood, could do the task required. Regarding variety, I do want some but i don't want to overwhelm the aesthetics and draw attention away from artwork displayed, with too many different types of timber as this will be too visually off-putting. I am more interested in providing an experience.
Aesthetics There are several different types of wood differentiating in colour and tone, but i want them to be not too different from one another. It is best that they compliment the park and the Parkside building and each other. This may mean using colours which are similar to the surrounding trees. I saw these images and concepts on Pinterest and thats what encouraged me to pursue those three gesture models. These precedents helped me orientate my gesture models.
Three DiagramsI decided to pursue these three designs because, I liked the features and shapes that originated with the folding and scoring of the various materials.
Gesture ModelsSketch models are a way of exploring concepts and ideas. Above are some photographs of sketch models I have made, for this project I will focus on three of these Gesture models and pursue them and diagram then in my sketchbook. ![]()
